Olympian Erik Bjornsen of Anchorage finished 51st, second among American skiers, in Saturday’s World Cup 50-kilometer men’s classic race in Oslo, Norway.
Bjornsen was clocked in 2 hours, 20 minutes, 39.4 seconds. Daniel Richardsson of Sweden won in 2:07.29.5 and Olympian Noah Hoffman was the top American, placing 29th in 2:14.30.1 Reese Hanneman of Anchorage finished 56th in 2:23.02.1.
Sixty racers finished and 10 abandoned the race.
The women ski a 30-K Sunday in Oslo. On the start list are two Olympians from Anchorage, Kikkan Randall of Anchorage and Sadie Bjornsen, Erik’s sister. Randall earlier this week clinched her third straight World Cup sprint title.
