APD: 6 suspects sought in armed robbery of South Anchorage home

The Anchorage Police Department is investigating the armed robbery of a South Anchorage home late Saturday night, where they said six men stormed a residence and held a mother and her son at gunpoint.

Police received a report of the armed robbery at 11:25 p.m. Saturday night at the 11000 block of Tulin Park Loop -- located off of Lake Otis Parkway between O'Malley and Huffman roads -- according to a release from APD spokesperson Jennifer Castro. A female resident went to answer the doorbell, when six men reportedly barged into the home, holding her and her teenage son at gunpoint while they robbed the house. During the robbery one of the suspects struck the woman's son in the face, the release said.

At least $10,000 worth of items were taken from the home, Castro said on Sunday.

Rough descriptions of three of the six suspects were available Sunday evening. The first was described as a black male, between 5-feet-7-inches and 5-feet-9-inches tall, with a slim build. Another male was described as about 5-feet-7-inches tall with olive skin and possibly a large birthmark on his face. The third suspect was described as a black male in his 20s, about 5-feet-8-inches tall, with a medium build and short hair.

No suspects had yet been located, and no arrests were made as of Sunday evening.

Castro said the robbery may have been drug-related, but was unable to offer further detail Sunday. Anyone with information regarding the robbery is asked to call Anchorage police at 907-786-8900, or submit a tip anonymously to Anchorage Crime Stoppers online or at 907-561-STOP.
