Media types don't get a vote in All-WCHA balloting this season, so Shane Frederick of the Mankato (Minn.) Free Press and Matt Wellens of The Mining Journal in Marquette, Mich. -- those guys also write about the WCHA for uscho.com -- put their heads together and came up with league honors.

They pick UAF center Cody Kunyk as the Player of the Year -- he owns 22-20--42 totals in 34 games overall and 17-17--34 totals in 28 league games.

On the second team, their selections included UAA center Matt Bailey (18-17--35 in 34; 12-15-27 in 28), UAF forward Colton Beck (13-23--36 in 34; 11-19--30 in 28) and UAF defenseman Colton Parayko (4-19--23 in 34; 4-14--18 in 28).

On the third team, they picked UAF forward Tyler Morley (17-17--34 in 31; 15-14--29 in 25). And on the rookie team, the selected UAF forward Marcus Basara (11-13--24 in 34; 9-12--21 in 28).
