Notes: Johnson strong again in NHL; Vidmar gets first AHL promotion

Just a couple of quick notes about a couple of former Alaska college hockey players.

Former UAF goaltender Chad Johnson continued to shine as the back-up for the Boston Bruins. He stopped 29 shots today in a 5-1 win over visiting Carolina to raise his numbers to 14-3-1, 2.15 and .921, with one shutout.

And former UAA defenseman Luka Vidmar, deep into his third season as a pro, and all in the ECHL, was called up by the Rochester Americans to earn his first summons to the AHL. Vidmar owns 2-12--14 and +5 totals in 57 games for ECHL South Carolina, which is coached by former Seawolves forward Spencer Carbery.

Rochester plays at Binghamton tonight. UPDATE: Vidmar is in Rochester's lineup tonight. From the small-world department: One of Rochester's other D-men is former Alaska Aces blueliner Nick Tuzzolino.
