When they were freshman at Norwich in 2011, defenseman Kayla Parsons and forward Elle Kadel, both of Fairbanks, won a women's NCAA Division III national championship.
This week, Parsons and Kadel, who helped Norwich to a runner-up finish a season ago, try to bookend their careers with another title.
Parsons and Kadel are among four Alaskans who will be vying for a Division III title this week.
On the men's side, semifinalist St. Norbert features Erik Cooper of Anchorage and semifinals Wisconsin-Stevens Point includes Trace Strahle of Anchorage.
Parsons tops Norwich defensemen in points, and is tied for third on the team, with 0-17--17 totals in 29 games. Kadel owns 1-3--4 totals in 24 games. Norwich on Friday plays Wisconsin-River Falls in Plattsburgh, N.Y. Saturday, the winner of that match plays the winner of the Friday semi between St. Thomas and Plattsburgh.
Cooper, a sophomore wing, owns 15-20--35 totals in 30 games and has 3-5--8 totals in the last three games. He furnished one goal and three assists in a 7-2 win over Adrian last week. St. Norbert on Friday plays Genesco.
