If you've ever been to the Alaska Greek Festival, chances are you've encountered Luke Cooley, who is being honored with the 2014 Spirit of Youth Faith-Based Service Award.

The Alaska Greek Festival is an annual fundraiser for the Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church in Anchorage. Luke has been active in the festival for 13 years, performing with the youth dance group and volunteering on the management team. He has invested countless hours preparing the grounds, raising tents, assisting the dancers, preparing food and cleaning up after the festival.

Diane Primis, a family friend, said Luke hopes one day to be the chairman of the Greek Festival so he can continue to share the Orthodox tradition, history and culture with the community.

"He wants an integral part in helping to meet the needs of Orthodox faithful for many years to come," Primis said.

Learn more about this year's award winners and reserve your seats for the 16th Annual Spirit of Youth Awards Dinner, Saturday, April 5 at the Anchorage Marriott Downtown.
