Erik Cooper's goal came in the first period tonight, but it stood up as the game-winning strike as the sophomore winger from Anchorage helped St. Norbert win the NCAA Division III championship with a 3-1 victory over Wisconsin-Stevens Point in Lewiston, Maine.
Cooper's 16th goal of the season came just 11 seconds after Joe Perry's team-leading 24th goal opened the scoring.
Cooper finished the season with 16-21--37 totals in 32 games to rank third on his team in goals and tied for third in points.
Wisconsin-Stevens Point includes freshman defenseman Trace Strahle of Anchorage, who did not dress Saturday for the title game.
