An interesting Aces note (or at least The Blog thinks so; he is often wrong

Tonight marked just the third time in 63 games this season the Alaska Aces have surrendered three or more goals in the first period.

The first two games ended about how you would expect -- with losses.

Alaska gave up three first-period goals at Colorado on Jan. 24 and lost 4-3. The Aces gave up four first-period goals at Idaho on Dec. 11 and lost 4-1.

Tonight in Stockton, the Aces gave up three first-period goals and lost in OT, 5-4.

Trailing 3-1 after one period and 4-1 nearly halfway through the third period, Alaska salvaged a point. That's a precious point, especially considering Alaska remains tied with Ontario, a 4-3 OT loser at Bako, atop the ECHL. Should the Aces win a fourth straight Brabham Cup as regular-season champs, we'll look back on the point earned tonight as pivotal.
