Former (briefly) Aces goalie Brossoit headed to NHL

Doyle Woody,Adn Staff

The Alaska Aces have already had one goaltender they used this season make his NHL debut -- Joni Ortio, with Calgary -- and now there's a second one headed to the world's best league.

Laurent Brossoit, a rookie who played briefly for the Aces early in the season before an NHL trade of his contract shipped him to the Edmonton organization, and big success with ECHL Bakersfield, today was promoted to Edmonton on an emergency basis.

Brossoit was called up after Viktor Fasth suffered an injury in practice today.

Brossoit has played in both the AHL and ECHL this season.

In AHL action with Abbotsford and Oklahoma City, he's 2-6-0 with a 3.99 goals-against average and .876 save percentage.

In ECHL action with the Aces and mostly with Bako, he's 21-9-2 with a 2.06, .924 and 7 shutouts, one shy of tying the league single-season record.
