Letter: Earthquake story inspired tears

The article about the '64 earthquake in this mornings' paper (Mar. 23) was riveting.

I've read many articles on the quake in my 40 years here, but if I've read the details on the Mead/Thomas family's ordeal I'd forgotten them. I couldn't finish the article for a while. I have to say it brought me to tears when I read about the loss of the two Mead brothers.

My heart broke for Penny when she reached for her brother just a second too late and the earth swallowed him up. I think he was 2.

Just had to write; not too many articles bring me to tears.
