Ontario dropped a precious point tonight

Doyle Woody,Adn Staff

Playing before nearly 9,000 fans in their home rink, the Ontario Reign, second in the ECHL in winning percentage behind the Alaska Aces, lost 3-2 shootout decision to league-worst Las Vegas tonight.

That's good news for the Aces.

Alaska (42-17-6) owns a league-leading .692 -- the Brabham Cup as regular-season champion (and home ice throughout the Kelly Cup playoffs) will be determined by winning percentage -- and Ontario (40-17-7) dropped to .680.

The Aces have six games left all on the road. They have three in Vegas, beginning Friday, then have 10 days off before a regular season-ending, three-game trip to Colorado.

The Reign have seven games left, five of them at home. Ontario plays Stockton four times and Bakersfield three times.
