Aces: Coffman's the odd man out, released

With the return of winger Brendan Connolly from the AHL, a roster limit forced the ECHL's Alaska Aces to ditch a player today, and the unlucky one turned out to be center Tim Coffman.

Judging by the way things have gone lately, Coffman could be playing against the Aces on Friday night. The Blog posits that because the Las Vegas Wranglers, who open a three-game series against the Aces on Friday in Sin City, have picked up the last two guys the Aces released, winger Shawn Skelly and defenseman Ben Parker.

In any event, Coffman exits the Aces with 9-13--22 totals and a +8 rating in 35 games. The 26-year-old was hot early in the season with 5-8--13 totals and a +8 rating in the first 13 games. He missed a big chunk of the season with a broken foot and, as the Aces lineup gained depth up front, dropped down the depth chart.
