After winning a pair of super-G races Friday in the state alpine skiing championships on Mount Alyeska in Girdwood, Hunter Eid of the Alyeska Ski Club posted the two fastest slalom runs Saturday to win the U-14 boys title.
Eid in the slalom clocked his first run in 30.65 seconds, nearly a full second faster than anyone, and his 32.22 in the second run gave him a combined time of 1:02.87, which put him .99 ahead of runner-up Conner Lane (1:03.86). Kevin Leach took bronze (1:04.24).
Eid on Friday won both super-G races by large margins. Lane was runner-up in both.
In girls slalom competition Saturday, Hailley Jones of the Juneau Ski Club dominated both runs for a combined time of 1:11.12 that placed her exactly five seconds ahead of runner-up Kennedy Kane (1:16.12), who edged third-place finisher Miki Maroney (1:16.37).
Jones on Friday won a super-G race in 1:00.57 to win by nearly four seconds. In the other super-G race, Sanne Cassee won in 58.37 to top runner-up Jones by more than three seconds.
