NAHL report: Kenai River in battle for final playoff spot

Doyle Woody,Adn Staff

The NAHL's Kenai River Brown Bears lost 5-1 on the road to the Fairbanks Ice Dogs on Friday night, which complicated their quest for the final playoff spot in the Midwest Division.

Kenai River owns 64 points heading into Saturday night's regular-season finale in Fairbanks, which has already wrapped up the overall regular-season championship of the league. Coulee Region has 63 points and plays its regular-season finale Sunday, when it entertains the Minnesota Magicians.

A win Saturday night clinches a playoff spot for the Brown Bears.

Anything else, though, and Kenai River will be scoreboard watching on Sunday. Coulee Region owns the tie-breaker over Kenai River.
