Cassee dominates giant slalom state championships

Sanne Cassee, 13, of Anchorage won the girls U-14 giant slalom state championship Sunday at Alyeska Resort in Girdwood in impressive fashion. Cassee was the fastest skier — girl or boy — on both runs of the day. On the first course, held on Alyeska's Steilhung, she beat everyone by nearly two seconds. On the second course, boys U-14 winner Conner Lane came the closest to beating her time, finishing two-hundredths of a second slower. Cassee finished second in the tri-divisional U-14 championships (IMD) in giant slalom March 23 at Park City, Utah.
