UAF has secured a commitment from forward Colton Sparrow of the BCHL's Vernon Vipers, his hometown team -- the 20-year-old tweeted it today.
Sparrow, a 5-foot-11, 180-pounder, was the Vipers' seventh-leading scorer in the regular season with 11-23--34 totals in 50 games, but has raised his game in the playoffs to lead the club in points with 7-11--18 totals in 15 games.
Vernon is one of three teams still alive in the BCHL postseason -- the league does a three-team round-robin -- Vernon is 2-0-0 to lead the pack -- before the top two teams left play the Finals.
Sparrow furnished Vernon one goal and two assists in its 4-3 OT win over the Penticton Vees is Game 7 of a second-round series.
