The Fairbanks Ice Dogs owned the Kenai River Brown Bears in the NAHL's regular season -- the Ice Dogs went 13-3-0 against their intrastate rivals -- and nothing changed tonight in the opener of the playoff series between the teams.

Fairbanks won 3-0 on the strength of goals from Tayler Munson, Lonnie Clary and Hans Gorowsky, and 23 saves from Keith Aldridge at the Big Dipper in Fairbanks.

Game 2 in the best-of-5 series is Saturday in the Golden Heart City.

Game 3 is Tuesday night in Soldotna.

Kenai River's Zach Quinn made 31 saves tonight.
