It's a Kentucky-Connecticut battle of the desserts

It's Kentucky Derby-Pie versus Connecticut brownies and ice cream Monday night.

The states' senators made a bet on the NCAA men's championship game, and the winner gets a big dessert.

"I look forward to enjoying desserts after Kentucky beats UConn tonight," said Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky.

"A 9th national championship for the University of Kentucky and some Connecticut ice cream and brownies will be the perfect finish to yet another thrilling NCAA tournament for the Cats," added Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky. "Tonight, America will once again see that the Commonwealth of Kentucky is the college basketball capital of the world, as we keep the NCAA trophy in the Bluegrass State for three straight years."

But Connecticut's senators aren't going quietly. "Bleeding blue and betting with pride – trusting that Kentucky's Senators won't be tasting UConn ice cream or Stew Leonard's brownies – because the Huskies will be dominant," said Sen. Richard Blumenthal, D-Conn.

Added Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., "This team has more heart and determination than anyone else out there. This team deserves a national title and I look forward to a big portion of humble pie from my friends from Kentucky."
