The Anchorage Economic Development Corp. is introducing a new business survey that will identify the greatest growth opportunities and challenges facing Anchorage businesses. The Business Retention & Expansion Survey will be one of the most extensive surveys ever conducted in the Anchorage business community.
AEDC plans to reach out to thousands of Anchorage businesses with the survey, which covers a broad range of topics from workforce and hiring needs to infrastructure and facility demands.
"Retaining and growing local businesses is vital to diversifying Anchorage's economy," said Bill Popp, president and CEO of AEDC. "This survey gives local businesses an opportunity to be heard and influence our direction. We'll use the results to design economic development programs centered on the identified issues. The end goal is to make Anchorage a better place for businesses."
The survey runs from April 7 to Aug. 29; businesses that complete the survey by May 31 are eligible to win prizes including a table sponsorship at the AEDC 3-Year Outlook Luncheon, a one-month corporate membership to The Boardroom and a class at the Alaska Small Business Development Center.
The 20-minute, web-based survey is open to all local business owners and executives. The survey can be found at www.AEDCweb.com. Survey responses will be kept in the strictest confidence; results will be used to design AEDC's economic development programs.
The Business Retention & Expansion Survey was developed in partnership with public and private organizations with a vested interest in Anchorage's development. These organizations include: Anchorage Water and Wastewater Utilities, AT&T, GCI, Municipal Light and Power, Port of Anchorage Solid Waste Services and Anchorage Community Land Trust.
