NAHL report: Fairbanks bounces back, wins at Kenai River

After splitting the first two games of their best-of-5, NAHL playoff series with the Kenai River Brown Bears in Fairbanks last weekend, the regular-season champion Fairbanks Ice Dogs answered in strong fashion tonight in Soldotna, where they bagged a 5-2 win in Game 3.

The Ice Dogs used goals from Wyatt Ege, Yannick Vedel, Ross Olsson, Todd Burgess and Johnny Mueller, plus Duggie Lagrone's two helpers and Kevin Aldridge's 22 saves, to put the Brown Bears on the ropes. Ege, a defenseman and UAA recruit, had three goals in 59 regular-season games, but has goals in consecutive games in this series.

Fairbanks can close out the series Wednesday night in Soldotna. Kenai River must win Wednesday to force a decisive Game 5 Saturday night in Fairbanks.

That means the Brown Bears have a difficult task ahead. Fairbanks is 15-4-0 against Kenai River this season.
