Letter: Why tennis? We have other needs

I am having difficulty wrapping my understanding around $37 million for tennis, or maybe we could use it for the library or yet some other opulent monument to futility.

My difficulty is understanding why the Dan Sullivan administration cut critical positions in recent years; in fact, one year 54 city positions were eliminated. The city closed a library, cut pool hours, eliminated or didn't fill quite a number of APD positions. The Fire Department had to eliminate an engine and a truck.

There have been cuts that have hurt this community. Many folks in this town are still homeless, hungry, cold and in need of medical attention.

Tennis … we need tennis … and a bridge, let's buy a bridge, something new … and glistening like mirrored windows!
