Alaska Aces winger Peter Sivak, who Thursday was named All-ECHL First Team, this morning was announced the winner of the circuit's Sportsmanship Award, given to the player who combines a high level of play with "gentlemanly conduct.''

He fits the bill -- Sivak is second in the league in scoring with 29-50--79 totals and a league-leading +46 rating in 65 games. And he's taken a whopping five minor penalties for 10 minutes.

Sivak is the second Ace to win the award. Center Brian Swanson won it in 2011, when he scored 70 points in 69 games and gooned it up for 20 penalty minutes.

For what it's worth, here's the rundown of Sivak's penalties this season: slashing in his 12th game; high-sticking in his 18th game; hooking in his 31st game; interference in his 44th game; and tripping in his 55th game.
