Letter: House's meddling with minimum wage is a blow to democracy

So much for democracy in Alaska. The minimum wage initiative took thousands of hours and thousands of dollars to collect over 43,000 valid signatures.

Article XI of the Alaska Constitution states, "The people may propose and enact laws by the initiative, and approve or reject acts of the Legislature by the referendum." Unfortunately, the Alaska House passed legislation that will knock the initiative off of the ballot. As I said, so much for democracy in Alaska.
