SEEK (Science and Engineering Kamp) ALASKA
Sponsor: Science and Engineering Experience Kamp Trust
Have fun with Science and Engineering. SEEK Alaska is a five-day resident camp held at UAA. Students perform scientific research and explore engineering design using hands-on experiments, mathematical prediction, problem solving, brainstorming and other active-learning methods. They learn that technical topics are not too tough or mysterious. Classroom and outdoor experiences include individual effort, team collaboration, writing, speaking, research and light-hearted competition. Lodging, meals, and instructional materials are included — plus use of a notebook computer. This fully chaperoned camp is limited to 14 students. A fantastic academic camp with great reviews. Junior Master Gardener Day Camp
The Alaska Botanical Garden's Junior Master Gardener Day Camp is a weekly program allowing youth to learn about and connect with the outdoors and gardening. This program runs for eight weeks and teaches kids about gardening, soil, seeds, insects and more. Camp attendees come to ABG one day per week (Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday) in the morning (9 am – 12 pm) or afternoon (1 – 4 pm) each week June 2nd-July 23.

Chinese Culture Camp
Culture camp for children interested in learning more about Chinese language and culture. Java Programming
In this week-long academy, students will learn how to write Java programs and be introduced to the field of Computer Science. Topics including object-oriented programming, Java syntax, and the Eclipse development environment will be covered.

Gears and Sprockets
In this week-long academy, students will learn to design and build mechanical drive trains for vehicles. Topics will include friction, torque, motors, gears, sprockets, and belts. Attendees will construct vehicles optimized for speed, acceleration, and climbing to compete on an obstacle-filled racetrack.

Summer Engineering Academy-Robotics
In this week-long academy, students will learn to design, build, and program a robot to complete a task. Topics will include motors, actuators, sensors and programming. Attendees will assemble a robot that will compete in both user-piloted and autonomous challenges such as an obstacle course.

3D Modeling
In this week-long academy, students will learn to geomodel buildings in 3D from facility blueprints and digital images. Attendees will use image processing tools and mapping software. 3D building models created throughout the week will be published and shared online.

Energy
In this week-long academy, students will learn how energy is produced and consumed, with a focus on renewable sources. Attendees will create a mini power grid using a small photovoltaic array, wind turbine, battery bank, and various electrical loads, which will be tested for effectiveness and efficiency.

Yak Academy is a foreign language program that offers Spanish and Mandarin Chinese language mini camps. Depending on camp dates, children will experience the elements of water and fire such as building a watercourse, making boats, watercolor painting, baking breads and a fire story. Bricks 4 Kidz® camps are offered throughout the year. Camp themes and activities are specifically designed for children ages 6-13. Your children will have barrels of fun as they use LEGO® bricks to explore the world of engineering and architecture through friendly and team-based activities. Children will build and design motorized models, construct and play with their own inspired creations and participate in fun games and challenges. All materials are supplied. Join our nationally accredited early learning center this summer. Children reconnect with nature and discover what an amazing world is right out the door.
