Dillingham man convicted of sexually abusing relative

A Dillingham Superior Court jury convicted a 39-year-old man of sexual abuse and incest charges on Thursday after he sexually molested a 6-year-old relative in 2011, according to a statement from the Alaska Department of Law.

The statement said the man forced the relative to perform oral sex on him, abuse that was witnessed by a 7-year-old relative. The victim told a teenaged relative about the sexual abuse, and the family reported it to Alaska State Troopers who worked with the Dillingham Child Advocacy Center.

The man was arrested in August 2011. He faces between 25 and 35 years in prison and will be sentenced on July 29, the statement said. He is being held at the Dillingham Police Department.

The Daily News is withholding the man's name to protect the victim's identity.
