tough start to the NAHL Midwest Division Finals for the Fairbanks Ice Dogs tonight.

Wenatchee bagged a 4-0 road win in Fairbanks to open the best-of-5 series, riding Chase Perry's third shutout in six playoff games to strike first. Perry, a Colorado College commit, stopped 24 shots to improve his postseason resume to 4-2-0 with a 1.43 goals-against average and .949 save percentage.

Jakob Ahlgren opened the scoring late in the second period, Parker Tuomie added two goals -- one an empty-net strike -- and Mike Coyne closed the scoring. Game 2 is Saturday night in Fairbanks.

Oh, one last thing. Another playoff opener in the NAHL was a classic -- Michigan beat Port Huron 1-0 in triple overtime. Game lasted 105:37 before Colin Larkin scored. Michigan goalie Trevor Gorsuch stopped 55 shots. Hard-luck losing goalie Alex Blankenburg made 51 saves.
