Egg hunts, bunny meet and greet
Easter has hit town, and chocolate bunnies, egg-hunting children and other sights of the season will be out. Both the Easter Bunny and Seymour the Moose will be at the Northway Mall to meet children on Saturday, and there will be crafts and treats as well. Free. Egg hunters can head to the Dimond Center Saturday. There will be age divisions and sessions at 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. The cost is two cans of food or $5 per child (all donations go to the Food Bank of Alaska). Sign-up and ticket purchase is required at Guest Services.
Speaking of eggs, children are invited to visit the dinosaurs at the Alaska Museum of Science and Nature and help find where the dinosaur eggs are hidden. Hop through the museum and participate in a puffin egg roll, dino egg hunt and more. Drop-in, self-guided. 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Alaska Museum of Science and Nature, 201 N. Bragaw St. $3-$5. Children can pet a real rabbit at The Learning Farm, which will also host a noncompetitive egg hunt (Easter baskets provided). In addition to bunnies, children can see all kinds of animals -- including rabbits, pigs, sheep, ponies and mini-goats. 2014 Native Youth Olympic Games Alaska
About 500 athletes from across Alaska will compete in the 44th Annual NYO Games Alaska, executing feats that really must be seen to be believed -- including one-foot and two-foot high kicks, seal hop, wrist-carry and more. There will also be music and dance performances, the fourth annual Pilot Bread Recipe Contest and the 2014 Opportunities Expo. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday, Dena'ina Civic and Convention Center, 600 W. Baby expo, free immunization clinic
Expectant parents and families with small children can shop around and get some free advice at Alaska's Baby and Toddler Expo. Talk with health care professionals and buy toys, clothes, furniture and more. 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Egan Center. Free. The same day, Alaska Regional will offer a free immunization clinic for eligible Alaska children up to age 18.
