Justice Dept. officials fan out to fight violence against women

Top Justice Department officials are fanning out across college campuses to fight violence against women.

In recognition of the 20th anniversary of the Violence Against Women Act, officials between April 23 and May 1 will join with senior executives from the Education Department in the campus tours. Associate Attorney General Tony West and others kick off the program April 23, at North Carolina Central University.

Other campuses to be visited range from the University of California at Santa Barbara to the University of Delaware.

"The federal government is proud to partner with hundreds of campuses across our country to improve safety for students with comprehensive solutions to both prevent acts of violence and to support victim services," said Bea Hanson, Principal Deputy Director of the Office on Violence Against Women.
