A downed wire caused about 300 South Anchorage households to lose power for more than five hours Tuesday morning, officials said.
The outage occurred about 4:06 a.m. in the area of 84th Avenue and Lake Otis Parkway, said Sarah Wiggers, spokeswoman for Chugach Electric.
"There is a wire down. Crews are out and they're putting it back up," Wiggers said in an 8:15 a.m. phone interview.
At 9:20 a.m., crews had repaired the wire and fully restored power, according to an email update from Wiggers.
She said crews found "no apparent reason" for the wire to go down, but are continuing to investigate.
