A prisoner at Goose Creek Correctional Center was sent to a local hospital Monday after being assaulted by another inmate.
The assault happened at 10 p.m. on Monday, Department of Corrections spokeswoman Kaci Schroeder wrote in an e-mail.
Ralph Hernandez, 52, was taken to a Mat-Su Valley hospital. Schroeder would not describe the extent of his injuries.
Hernandez faces charges of attempted sexual abuse of a minor, sexual abuse of a minor and possession of child pornography, according to court records. His trial is scheduled for May.
