Letter: What works for oil may work for schools

The oil industry is touting an increase in oil production on the North Slope to an “improved business climate,” the result of SB 21’s massive tax cuts for oil companies. Apparently there’s a direct correlation between more money in their pockets and improved performance.

Perhaps it would also stand to reason that an increase in education funding would create an improved educational climate for Alaska’s children. I don’t see how budget cuts, laying off teachers, and eliminating programs is going to get us the increased performance our legislators want to see.
