Aces D corps just got stronger: Davies returns from AHL

Doyle Woody,Adn Staff

Depth and quality on defense was one of many factors that helped the Alaska Aces sweep their first-round ECHL Kelly Cup playoff series from Las Vegas, and the Aces just got even deeper on the blue line.

Zach Davies has been assigned back to the Aces from Abbotsford of the AHL, according to AHL transactions.

Davies in 31 regular-season games with the Aces delivered 7-10--17 totals. In 14 AHL games, he had three goals.

Davies' return gives the Aces seven healthy defensemen. ECHL All-Rookie blueliner Brad Richard, who hasn't played in the postseason, suffered an upper-body injury in a practice last week in Las Vegas and is out indefinitely.

In addition to Davies, the Aces have Drew MacKenzie, John Ramage, Zach McKelvie, Sean Curry, Corey Syvret and James Martin.

Remember, Abbotsford's Kane Lafranchise, a long-time Ace, is also on Alaska's playoff roster.
