The Fairbanks Ice Dogs, top dog in the NAHL's regular season, continue their quest for the Robertson Cup on Friday when they entertain the Michigan Warriors in the opener of a best-of-3 semifinal series at the Big Dipper.
Fairbanks, which required the maximum five games to eliminate Wenatchee in the Midwest Division finals and Kenai River in the division semifinals, have prospered at home all season. The Ice Dogs went 24-5-1 at the Big Dipper in the regular season and are 4-2 there in the playoffs for a combined 28-7-1 (.792 winning percentage) record on home ice.
Should the Ice Dogs win the series against the Warriors, they would entertain the winner of the other semi series between the Austin Bruins and Topeka RoadRunners for the Cup. The Finals are best-of-3 too.
Game 2 in the Fairbanks-Michigan series is Saturday night in Fairbanks with Game 3, if necessary, set for Sunday.
