Man shot in leg in East Anchorage mobile home park

A man was shot in the leg while walking through a mobile home park near Boniface Parkway early Wednesday morning, Anchorage police said.

At 12:46 a.m., someone called police to report a disturbance on a bike trail between Edward Street and the Mayflower Trailer Court, police spokeswoman Jennifer Castro wrote in a statement. Around the same time, someone else called police dispatchers to report hearing shots fired.

A woman also called police to say her boyfriend had been shot while walking through the trailer court, Castro said.

About four minutes after the first call, police arrived and found a man outside a mobile home with a gunshot wound to the leg, Castro said. He was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The woman told police that she and the man were walking through the mobile home park and heard a disturbance at a nearby trail.

"They heard shots fired and vehicles leaving the area" and then realized the man had been shot, Castro said.

The pair had no suspect information to provide to police, Castro said.
