Letter: Pass, then move to right lane

Everyone needs to understand the laws of our roads. The left lane for any highway is a passing lane. The Seward Highway and the Glenn Highway get clogged with vehicles because drivers use the left passing lane to cruise in. If the left- and right-lane drivers are going at similar speeds it blocks the whole highway. Once a driver has passed a slower vehicle they need to move over into the right lane. Our highways could be decongested with everyone getting home to their families faster if we follow the laws of the road. There are signs when highways start stating that the left lane is for passing. It isn’t the fast lane, it is the passing lane. When you are done passing, move over to the right lane instead of continuing to block traffic.
