Saturday: No Burn Day, says fire department

Dry conditions in the Anchorage Bowl have led the Anchorage Fire Department to declare Saturday is a "no burn day," banning open fires.

"Obviously with the hot, dry weather we're having now, it's favorable to burning," said fire department dispatcher Jessica DeVeaux.

The city hasn't issued an outright burn ban, DeVeaux said, but is evaluating conditions day-by-day. She urged Anchorage residents to check the department's website before considering an open burn, afd.muni.org. Regulations governing open burning are also posted on the site.
