Pedestrian struck, killed by vehicle in East Anchorage, police say

Anchorage police say a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and died from the resulting injuries shortly after 11 p.m. Sunday in East Anchorage.

Police are investigating. Expect periodic road closures of eastbound lanes of Tudor Road near the reported scene of the collision, in the area of East Tudor Road and Florina Street, according to a department news release.

The collision was first reported at 11:12 p.m. The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital in critical condition and pronounced dead just before 11:40 p.m., police say. Police have not named the deceased, nor released details such as the person's gender and apparent age.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the collision, police say.
