Baxter Elementary on 'stay put' mode as police search for man

Police say they are searching for a man near an East Anchorage elementary school after officers tried to pull him over and he fled.

Anchorage police discovered the driver had a felony arrest warrant, said police spokesperson Dani Myren. She said the call log indicates the man fled on foot.

Police have yet to find the driver and are combing the area of Baxter Road and East Northern Lights Boulevard.

Baxter Elementary School is in "stay-put mode." The school is not entirely locked down, but the doors are locked and school administrators monitor who enters and exits the building.
