Softball roundup: Wednesday's scores

Bartlett's softball team scored three runs in the fifth an final inning to break a tie game and defeat Cook Inlet Conference foe Eagle River 8-5 on Wednesday at Albrecht Fields.

After Val Soa hit an RBI double that scored Julia Tosi, who reached base on an error, Jordan Middleton smacked a two-run home run to put Bartlett up 8-5 in the fifth inning. Middleton also hit a triple for the Golden Bears.

Tied 5-5 after three innings, Bartlett reliever Heather Breslin came in and pitched two scoreless innings, striking out three Eagle River batters.

Middleton pitched the first three innings for Bartlett.

East 8, Dimond 0

Four East players hit home runs to power the T-birds past Dimond 8-0 on Wednesday at Albrecht.

Vaa Pedro and Alexis Joubert, who went 2 for 2, hit back-to-back homers in the first inning followed by a two-run shot by Taria Page and a solo home run by Nicolette Dabbs in the second inning.

Lauren Yow invoked the mercy rule in the fifth inning with a two-run single to put East up by eight.

Sydney Smith scattered three hits and struck out five for the win.

South wins a pair

South won back-to-back games Wednesday, first blanking Eagle River 12-0 then earning an 8-4 win over West.

Four South players had multi-hit games against Eagle River. Freshman Danni DesJarlais pitched a two-hitter and fanned seven while going 2 for 3 with an RBI double.

Rachel White was 2 for 2, both doubles, and drove in two runs while Leilani Blair and Ellie Obrochta both went 2 for 3 with an RBI.

Alex Denny and Maddie Malott provided both hits for Eagle River.

Three players had two hits apiece for South in its win over West. Blair was 2 for 3 and scored twice, Dakota Underwood went 2 for 3 including a two-RBI double and Bayli Mohl was 2 for 4 with an RBI.

White smacked a two-RBI single and earned the win, striking out six. DesJarlais went 1 for 2 and scored twice.

Julia Merritt went 3 for 3 and drove in three runs to lead West. Devonee Jackson went 2 for 3 for the Eagles, who got an RBI double from Lesley Bingham.

Chugiak 11, Service 9

Chugiak scored five runs, four of which came with two outs in the top of the seventh inning to earn an 11-9 win over Service on Wednesday.

Tied 6-6 in the bottom of the sixth, Chugiak turned a double play to force extra innings. With one out and a Service runner on third, Chugiak's Claire Bond caught a fly ball hit to shallow center and rifled an assist to catcher Tori Hooper.

Sophomore Juliette Montgomery pitched a complete game for the Mustangs, striking out four and surrendering one walk and 12 hits.

Elle Gray went 3 for 4 with an RBI and scored three runs for Chugiak, which got two hits, two runs and an RBI from Katy Bakker.

Lily Kagan and Janessa Davis had three hits apiece to lead Service.
