Woman arrested in Mountain View stabbing

A 21-year-old woman was arrested Tuesday after a stabbing in Mountain View, Anchorage police said.

On Monday, police interviewed a woman at a local hospital. The woman told police she had been stabbed by another woman near the intersection of Thompson Avenue and North Klevin Street after they got into a fight. The stabbing victim said the other woman, later identified as Sharae Maynard, owed her money, said police spokesperson Jennifer Castro.

The victim underwent surgery for non-life threatening injuries and was in stable condition Monday.

Police issued an arrest warrant for Maynard the same day. Castro released a description of Maynard and asked anyone with information on her whereabouts to call dispatch.

On Tuesday, police received a tip from a citizen who said Maynard was at the Qupqugiaq Inn at 640 W. 36th Ave. Police arrested Maynard at the inn around 4:30 p.m. She faces a first-degree assault charge.
