The Bakersfield Condors edged within one more win of becoming the Alaska Aces' opponent in the ECHL Western Conference finals tonight with a comeback 2-1 road win over the Stockton Thunder that earned the Condors a 3-1 lead in the best-of-7 conference semifinals.
Trailing 1-0 with eight minutes to go, the Condors got a power-play strike from Jordan Knackstedt and then used Joel Broda's goal with just 99 seconds left to win the game at Stockton Arena.
Former Aces goaltender Laurent Brossoit continued his terrific season with 29 saves for the Condors.
Game 5 is Saturday night in Stockton.
In the Eastern Conference, Greenville beat Wheeling 4-1 in Game 5 to mark the first win by a home team in that series -- Greenville leads 3-2 in the series entering Game 6 Monday in Wheeling. In the other semifinal series out East, Cincinnati, a 3-2 winner over Fort Wayne in double OT on Friday, owns a 2-1 series lead entering Game 4 Saturday at Fort Wayne.
