Prep softball roundup: Friday's scores

East earned two lopsided victories during the first day of the East/West softball tournament Friday at Albrecht Fields.

The T-birds downed Juneau 14-2 and blanked West 10-0. Sydney Smith pitched two complete games for East.

Gabby Meyerson and Alexis Joubert, who drove in four runs, both went 3 for 4 against Juneau. Taria Page and Smith had two hits and two RBIs apiece against West.

In other tournament action, the Eagles downed Lathrop 10-5. Lauren Syrup struck out eight for the win and went 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Nanea Tali, Melia Tali and Julia Merritt each had two hits for West.

Kacey Duffield and Salina Maxwell both went 2 for 3 for Lathrop, which beat Juneau 14-4.

Dimond 8, Thunder Mountain 0

Katie Hanson threw a one-hitter and fanned eight to help Dimond shutout Thunder Mountain 8-0 on Friday at Albrecht.

Taylor Tipton went 3 for 3 and drove in three runs for the Lynx.
