Standout Chugiak football player to be inducted into Montana hall of fame

Yohance Humphrey, a standout Chugiak football player, will be inducted into the University of Montana's hall of fame Sept. 5, according to the school's website.

Humphrey, who played at Montana from 1998-2001, is the school's all-time leading rusher with 4,070 yards and holds Montana's single-season rushing record of 1,658 yards, which he set in 2001, the same season the Grizzlies won their second Division I-AA national title.

His final season, Humphrey averaged 138.2 rushing yards per game, another Montana record, and set the school's single-game rushing record of 265 yards that season. He was also a three-time All American.

A 1997 Chugiak graduate, Humphrey earned all-state honors in three positions in football, wide receiver, running back and defensive back, and helped the Mustangs to a 1996 state title.

In 2007, he was inducted into the Alaska High School Hall of Fame.
