Fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon to join Anchorage Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic
Kurt D. Mentzer, M.D., to join practice June 30, 2014
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (May 14, 2014) – Kurt D. Mentzer, M.D., is the newest orthopedic surgeon to join the expert team of doctors at Anchorage Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic, located at 3831 Piper Street, Suite S-220 in Anchorage. As a board-certified, fellowship-trained hand and arm doctor, Dr. Mentzer's expertise includes the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and conditions affecting the hand, elbow and shoulder. He also performs complex microvascular reconstruction.
"I strive to provide patients with compassionate, experienced hand, elbow and shoulder care," Dr. Mentzer says. "Though I've been practicing in Anchorage since 2006, I look forward to joining Anchorage Fracture & Orthopedic Clinic and continuing to help patients in Anchorage and the surrounding areas overcome their hand and upper extremity injuries and conditions."
Dr. Mentzer graduated summa cum laude from the United States Air Force Academy prior to receiving his doctorate of medicine from the Medical College of Georgia. He then completed a surgical internship and orthopedic residency at the Wilford Hall Ambulatory Surgical Center in Lackland AFB, Texas. Dr. Mentzer received advanced fellowship training in hand care at The Hand Center of San Antonio. This past year, he served as a team physician for the Alaska Aces, University of Alaska Anchorage, South Anchorage High School football team and Eagle River High School football team.
