Fire levels Interior lodge

A historic lodge in Alaska's Interior has been destroyed by fire. The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reports that The Clearwater Lodge -- located on the Clearwater River near Delta Junction, 332 road miles northeast of Anchorage -- burned to the ground late Wednesday. Besides offering rooms, the lodge was a popular destination for Delta locals, offering a full restaurant and bar. It was opened in 1958 by local homesteader Al Remington and bought by its current owners, Patsy and Kevin Ewing, in 2001.
