Idaho man to be extradited to Alaska on sex abuse charges

Jerzy Shedlock

Idaho resident Anthony Gilliam, 52, has been arrested following accusations of sexual abuse by two Alaska residents.

Alaska State Troopers say two Wasilla women in their 20s claim they were sexually abused by Gilliam. In early November, a 23-year-old woman called the troopers and reported that Gilliam had sexually abused her and her 22-year-old sister. A trooper dispatch issued Friday does not detail when or where the alleged abuse occurred.

Troopers say Gilliam is currently living in Idaho. After an "extensive investigation," the Palmer District Court issued an arrest warrant for Gilliam for 22 counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor and three counts of coercion. Bail was set at $500,000 and a third-party custodian.

The Ashton Police Department in Idaho reportedly assisted with the investigation from its beginnings, and on Friday Ashton officers along with the Freemont County Sherriff's Department executed a search warrant on Gilliam's home.

Troopers say Gilliam was arrested without incident and is in custody in Freemont, Idaho, awaiting extradition back to Alaska.
