GIRLS SOCCER

Chugiak 2, Service 1

Fueled by Holly Brehmer's two goals, the Chugiak Mustangs upended Service 2-1 Thursday in a Cook Inlet Conference girls soccer match.

Service struck first, but Brehmer brought Chugiak back, scoring a first-half goal off an Ashleigh Sitz pass and producing the game-winner 17 minutes into the second half on an assist from Marlo Smith.

The win moved Chugiak to 7-4-3 in the CIC. Service dropped to 9-4-1.

South 3, East 0

Madison Jungwirth, Vanessa Valez and Sophie Gross each scored goals Thursday to carry unbeaten South past East 3-0 in a Cook Inlet Conference girls soccer match.

Erin Stuart and Morgan Lash provided assists for the Wolverines, who raised their record to 12-0-1. East dropped to 3-9-1.

BOYS SOCCER

South 3, East 2

Talon Stanley deprived winless East of a gargantuan upset Thursday, scoring the winning goal in unbeaten South's 3-2 Cook Inlet Conference boys soccer win over East.

East grabbed a 1-0 lead but South rallied for a 2-1 lead with goals from Blake Hepler and Alex Ponce de Leon. The T-birds came back to tie it, setting the scene for Stanley's game-winner.

South improved to 10-0-3 in the CIC, while East fell to 0-12-1.
