Child suffers minor injuries in Jeep, ATV collision

A five-year-old child sustained only minor injuries after the three-wheeler the child was driving was struck by a Jeep Sunday afternoon in Willow, according to Alaska State Trooper reports.

Troopers said the accident took place shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday, near mile 1 of Willow Station Road, when the three-wheeled ATV, driven by the five-year-old, entered the road in front of the Jeep. Troopers said the driver of the Jeep slammed on the brakes, but was unable to avoid hitting the three-wheeler. The child was thrown from the ATV by the impact, troopers said, but suffered only minor injuries.

The Jeep's owner was issued a citation for not having insurance troopers said.

Investigation into the accident remains ongoing.
