Former UAA winger Josh Lunden scored the first AHL Calder Cup playoff goal of his career tonight, and it proved enormous.
Lunden's power-play goal midway through the third period proved the game-winning strike -- on his only shot, no less -- and furnished the St. John's IceCaps with a 2-1 road victory over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins to take a 3-1 lead in that best-of-7, Eastern Conference finals series.
The IceCaps are coached by former Alaska Aces head coach, assistant coach and captain Keith McCambridge, who wore the 'C' when the Aces won the franchise's first Kelly Cup in 2006. He also coached the Aces to the Finals in 2009, when they fell to the South Carolina Stingrays in seven games.
