FWIW: Aces-Game 1 Kelly Cup History

Doyle Woody,Adn Staff

For what it's worth -- and mostly, it's just something to chew on -- the Alaska Aces are 2-1 in Kelly Cup Finals Game 1s at home in their history heading into Friday night's Game 1 in the Finals against the visiting Cincinnati Cyclones.

In 2011, on the way to winning the franchise's second Cup, the Aces opened at Sullivan Arena with a 5-0 victory over the Kalamazoo Wings.

In 2009, when the Aces lost the Cup in seven games to the South Carolina Stingrays, they dropped Game 1, 4-2, at Sullivan.

And in 2006, when the Aces won their first Cup, taking care of the Gwinnett Gladiators in five games, they won Game 1, 3-2, at Sullivan.

The Aces have never opened the Finals on the road.
